Save-the-diary Campaign!!
Come on let's do this together!
I need to see a sign of commitment from you guys - help me
double the readership by the end of March.
Stick If
the diary's readership doesn't double, the diary stops on
1st April 2002. Some of you have asked if it's true. Just
to make sure that you know I completely serious, I've taken
300,000 words from the older updates offline, forever. There
are no guarantees the target will be met; if we miss it, the
diary's gone. End of story. (literally)
 Carrot:
Come on guys, we can do this. To double the readership all
we need is one new reader, for each existing reader (on average!)…
I'm sure you could all get me 5-20 new readers if you really
wanted to. So come on, together we'll do this, and the diary
will grow. Change is good - the site is changing, and it's
growing and it's going to keep growing. Feel proud and contribute.
We've already seen an increase in traffic since the ultimatum-cum-challenge
was issued. If we reach the target, not only will the site
survive, but I'll add some improvements to it. It's a deal,
yeah? Good!
Why? Long
story guys - but look at it this way. I am totally committed
to the site - and sometimes it's not easy. Throughout the
dark period of "last summer" I somehow managed to
keep publishing the diary. For me, but also for you. Now all
I'm asking for, is for you to show you care about the site.
It's no good writing to me saying you like it - actions speak
louder. E-mail your friends, put links on your sites or ask
for them on your favourite sites.
And if you can't be bothered? Then why
should I be? Love this site? Make it grow. Come on, I don't
want this adventure with honesty to end either! We can do
it!
